Bamboo Ladder

It is hard to believe that a man will come out with ideas if he was not inspired.
We had a bamboo ladder at home that served not only our interests but everybody else’s in our neighborhood. Our friends and relatives borrowed it from us, whenever they had to white wash their houses, or shift some material on the attics, or fix a light or even drive a nail on the wall. As time passed by, its rungs became weak. We repaired them with reinforcements such as sticks and wire.

One day my brother wanted to fix a photograph on the wall. He climbed up the ladder. No sooner than he stepped on the top rung, the ladder unzipped itself, and my brother fell on the ground with a thud. Those of us who were watching could not but control bursts of laughter. My brother too joined us, forgetting the funny experience. What remained of the ladder were a couple of bamboo poles.

I thought I could make a cartoon out of this incident (it happened much later). A top executive climbs up the ladder, leaves every rung broken, preventing any one from following and climbing up.
